BALTIMORE, May 9, 2024 – Kennedy Krieger Institute, an internationally renowned organization with the mission of improving the lives of children, adolescents and adults with disorders and injuries of the nervous system, has announced the recognition of several of its staff members and senior leadership for their outstanding contributions to healthcare and civic leadership. These prestigious honors highlight the dedication and expertise of Kennedy Krieger's personnel in advancing healthcare, education and community service across greater Baltimore and beyond.

The Daily Record | Health Care Power List: Dr. Brad Schlaggar

Dr. Brad Schlaggar, MD, PhD, president and CEO of Kennedy Krieger, has been named to The Daily Record's Health Care Power List for the second year in a row. This honor recognizes his impact and contributions to advancing health leadership in Maryland. Dr. Schlaggar's work in leading 3,000 dedicated professionals who focus on healthcare research, education and patient care, marked by innovative initiatives and a commitment to continuous improvement, has solidified Kennedy Krieger's reputation as a leading healthcare institution. He led proactive responses to emerging needs such as launching a pediatric post-COVID-19 rehabilitation clinic, which exemplifies his dedication to improving pediatric and neurologic health. His inclusion on the Health Care Power List is a testament to his ongoing efforts to set a high standard of excellence in the field.

The Baltimore Sun | Business and Civic Hall of Fame 2024: Patricia M.C. Brown

The Baltimore Sun inducted Patricia M.C. "Patty" Brown, Esq., vice president of payor strategy at Kennedy Krieger, into its 2024 Business and Civic Hall of Fame. This honor recognizes Brown’s leadership at the Institute as she works to ensure that patients and their families have access to the health benefits they need, as well as her contributions to the wider Baltimore community, as she has previously held roles at Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins HealthCare.

The Daily Record | Top 100 Women: Maureen van Stone

Maureen van Stone, Esq., MS, associate vice president at Kennedy Krieger and associate director, Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities, director of Project HEAL, has been honored for a third time as a recipient of The Daily Record's Top 100 Women award. This recognition highlights her outstanding leadership at the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities and Project HEAL as well as her advocacy for policies that promote inclusivity and empowerment. Her continued efforts to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities has led to this year’s induction of Van Stone into The Daily Record’s Circle of Excellence, reserved for three-time winners of the Top 100 Women award.

Baltimore Magazine | Excellence in Nursing 2024: Erin Dignan and Theresa Paulsen

Theresa Paulsen and Erin Dignan, two pediatric registered nurses at Kennedy Krieger, have each been honored with the Excellence in Nursing award by Baltimore magazine. Paulsen serves as the Institute’s director of quality, patient safety and professional affairs. Dignan was the inaugural winner of the Institute’s Daisy Award, a nationwide program that recognizes nurses who excel in their jobs.
