Clinical Practicum Programs
The nursing training programs at Kennedy Krieger have been approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing. They provide academic and clinical support for nursing students seeking an associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree in nursing. This support is available for either a portion of or an entire academic semester. For more information about the various training opportunities and how to apply, please read the information below.
Kennedy Krieger's Nursing Department offers undergraduate and graduate training opportunities that involve nursing students working one-on-one with either a baccalaureate degree-prepared or a master’s degree-prepared registered nurse preceptor. Clinical settings include, but are not limited to:
- Pediatric rehabilitation inpatient unit
- Pediatric neurobehavioral inpatient unit
- Pediatric inpatient feeding disorders programs
- Pediatric and adult outpatient programs
- School-based programs
The Nursing Department offers nurses clinical practicums in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical activities include, but are not limited to, providing nursing care to pediatric patients who require rehabilitation for spinal cord injuries, brain and neurological disorders, severe feeding difficulties, developmental delays, and neurobehavioral diagnoses. (This list is not all-inclusive.) All schools of nursing wishing to use Kennedy Krieger Institute for clinical activities must sign the Kennedy Krieger Institute standard affiliation agreement.
