Biographical sketch
Dr. Aggarwal obtained her Ph.D. and MSE degrees, both in Biomedical Engineering, from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Prior to that, she graduated with a B.Tech (Honors) degree in Instrumentation Engineering and a minor in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. She subsequently joined the Johns Hopkins University Department of Radiology as a postdoctoral fellow, where she was promoted to Assistant Professor (2015) and Associate Professor of Radiology (2020). Dr. Aggarwal’s research focuses on the development of advanced diffusion MRI techniques for high-resolution neuroimaging applications. Dr. Aggarwal is a Siebel Scholar and a Junior Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.
Research Summary
Dr. Aggarwal is an investigator whose research focuses on development of advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques for characterization of brain tissue microstructure, and the application of such techniques for studies in both healthy and diseased states. These include the development of diffusion MRI (dMRI) and susceptibility methods and MR acquisition pulse sequences for microstructural imaging of both the human brain and animal models at high magnetic field strengths. Dr. Aggarwal’s research has been funded by grants from the NIBIB, NINDS, and NIA.
