Project STIR is a training curriculum that was developed by self advocates at the University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at the University of North Carolina. The tools are designed to help individuals with disabilities to learn crucial advocacy skills. Advocacy skill building helps individuals speak and act on behalf of themselves and or others.

This workshop is designed to help trainees:
- Learn how to develop advocacy skills using the Project STIR curriculum
- To effectively demonstrate understanding of fundamental rights and responsibilities upon completing the Project STIR curriculum
- Gain better understanding of how to appropriately express positive and negative emotions when advocating for themselves upon completing the class
- Gain better understanding of the effectiveness of teamwork when advocating on behalf of others
