The NDD Training Program at the Kennedy Krieger Institute builds on at least two core years of pediatric training in an ACGME approved program. We accept two residents per year.
Applications can be made at the end of medical school and in conjunction with applications for preliminary two years of pediatrics, during the PL1 year in an ACGME program, or in the PGY3 year. Fourth year medical students and current pediatrics residents may apply through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
NDD Match Position Types:
- JHH Neurodevelopmental Disabilities – Categorical (1 position): The NRMP program code is 1242186C0
- JHH Neurodevelopmental Disabilities –Advanced position (1 position): The NRMP program code is 1242186A0
For the Categorical Program affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Pediatrics Residency program, you do not need to apply to the pediatrics program separately. You will receive a separate interview invitation with Pediatrics after you interview with our program. Our programs work closely together once we receive your Combined Program application.
The Advanced position is affiliated with the University of Maryland Pediatrics Program. Please apply to the categorical pediatrics residency to be considered for our Advanced NDD position. Our programs work closely together for the successful Advanced position match.
The 2024 optional Supplemental ERAS application or program signaling are not required for our NDD program.
The application process requires:
- Completion of the application form on the NRMP website
- A copy of your latest curriculum vitae
- Three letters of recommendation including one chief letter.
- A virtual visit to the Kennedy Krieger Institute and interviews with the faculty.
NEW 1-year NDD Fellowship for Child Neurology Program Graduates:
If you have or will be completing an accredited child neurology residency and are interested in a 1-year NDD accredited fellowship, please send an inquiry to Dr. Miya Asato at Asato@KennedyKrieger.org. Our program focuses on predominantly o outpatient populations including evaluation of children and youth with concerns for intellectual disability, learning disorders, autism, and cerebral palsy.
We will be reviewing inquiries and conducting interviews this fall. The application process for the 1-year program requires a copy of your curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation including your child neurology program director, and a copy of your USMLE reports. A virtual visit to the Kennedy Krieger Institute and interviews with faculty and other residents will also be required.
