Dr. Bradley L. Schlaggar

Dear Friend,

Last September, we were honored to host Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, Secretary of Health Dr. Laura Herrera Scott and Secretary of Disabilities Carol Beatty for a tour of Kennedy Krieger’s inpatient hospital. Watching the governor and his team interact with our patients, their families and our staff was a moving reminder of how unique Kennedy Krieger is.

The theme of this year’s gratitude report is “Forging Our Future Together”—because with your help, we can pursue all that’s possible.

With your support, we hit many milestones in 2023. We:

  • Served more than 27,000 patients and students, and their families, for the second year in a row
  • Opened a school in St. Mary’s County, our first serving southern Maryland, bringing our unique approach to education for children with developmental disabilities to the southernmost part of our state
  • Trained nearly 1,000 early-career professionals
  • Opened an International Center for Spinal Cord Injury site in White Marsh, Maryland, the center’s third site overall
  • Made potential breakthroughs in research studies that are making positive impacts on children’s lives

Without you and your support, these advances simply couldn’t have happened. You make the difference. You help us forge a hopeful future that is bright with promise and possibility.

In this report, we share stories about committed supporters like you and the impact they make. I’m humbled by the many individuals and organizations who choose to invest their resources and trust in support of the important, determined work of our nearly 3,000-person staff. And you may have noticed the refreshed Kennedy Krieger logo on our website! Our refreshed logo and brand elements make our information more accessible and inclusive, and they better reflect our modern organization and those we serve.

On behalf of the entire Kennedy Krieger organization, my colleagues and I thank you, from the bottoms of our hearts.

With gratitude,

Hand-written word that reads: “Brad”
