About
Himaja Nagireddy, from Acton, MA, was a briefing manager for the Harris Walz campaign and the deputy associate policy director for the Office of the First Lady at the White House. Himaja served as the 11th Youth Observer to the UN, on behalf of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), from 2022 to 2023. In her role, she represented the voices and actions of young people across the country in global policy dialogue at UN conferences (Transforming Education Summit, 77th UN General Assembly, World Food Forum, 27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27), 67th Commission on the Status of Women, UN Water Conference, and the ECOSOC Youth Forum.) and meetings with leadership at the US State Department, US-UN Mission, UN Youth Envoy Office, UN Youth Delegate Program, and UN Foundation. She also served as the Head of the US Delegation to the Y20, the official youth constituency to the G20 Summit. A proud daughter of South Indian immigrants, Himaja is a graduate of both the EMURG and Ferguson RISE fellowships. During EMURG, she conducted research at the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) at the CDC. For Ferguson RISE, Himaja was at the CDC National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. Himaja graduated with an MS in Environmental Epidemiology and a concentration in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and her bachelors' degrees in Physiology and Neurobiology, Molecular and Cell Biology, and Sociology, from the University of Connecticut
