Dr Tyesha Karume was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where she developed a strong desire to enter a helping profession. She has been a nurse for 19 years starting her career as a pediatric nurse. Several years later, she became a Ryan White case manager which fueled a passion for HIV care. She earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree focusing on HIV prevention education from Coppin State University where she also received the Dean's Award and was inducted into the Mary Mahoney Honor Society. She is a wife and a mother of 2 amazing little girls. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. In her spare time, Dr Karume likes to spend time with her family, journal, travel and watch women's basketball.
