Dear Friend,

Your WIN Summer Newsletter is here! We hope you've been enjoying more relaxed days with family and friends, whether you're currently staycationing, on a plane to a favorite destination, or creatively carving out moments to relax within your daily routine.  We invite you to also take a look at this snapshot of the many ways the Women's Initiative Network (WIN) made a positive impact on the lives of patients, students and their families served by Kennedy Krieger within the last fiscal year.

(By the way, we hope you love our fresh, new online format for the newsletter! Please let us know what you think!)

We continue to be amazed at all the ways that this mighty and devoted group of women contribute to the Institute. And between the successful fundraising events, wonderful outreach, and volunteer opportunities on the horizon, it remains an exciting time to be a WIN member! We wish all of you a rejuvenating summer and look forward to all that lies ahead for WIN and Kennedy Krieger in the coming months!

With gratitude,

Alyson and Kristen

WIN 2024 Accomplishments

Four women sitting on a sofa smile at the camera.

  • At our 8th Annual Hats & Horses, held at the new M&T Bank Exchange next to the Hippodrome Theatre, 300 guests gathered and raised over $380,000 to support the creation of a new interdisciplinary clinic at Kennedy Krieger’s Center for Development and Learning. This new clinic will offer patients and their families comprehensive evaluations by a psychologist and a neurodevelopmental medicine specialist in a single visit.
  • Our 2nd annual Barrels & Bonfires was hosted at the picturesque Farmacy Brewery in Reisterstown, where we welcomed many new guests to this already popular event. We also raised funds for the purchase of an accessible merry-go-round for Kennedy Krieger’s Early Childhood Development and Education Center in Windsor Mill, which offers early learning and medical childcare programs for Baltimore-area families.
  • WIN Member, Jennifer Brittingham, hosted our annual Speaker Series in her home, where Dr. Jodi Lindsey, the Institute’s Director of the Center for Development and Learning spoke to over 30 women about why Kennedy Krieger is a world-renowned resource for the diagnosis and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and young adults.
  • Our WIN Co-Presidents, Cynthia Cavanaugh and Aimee Fulchino, are serving on the Institute’s Foundation Board and sharing their experience with the greater Kennedy Krieger community of leaders.
  • WIN members volunteered in our Child Life and Therapeutic Recreation Department, playing games and supporting the staff as needed.
  • WIN collected and collated hundreds of school supplies for students and teachers at our five schools around the state.
  • Over the holidays, Cynthia Cavanaugh mobilized WIN members and their network to collect jackets, gloves, hats, socks, and books for 80 children who participate in one of early learning programs, including the Early Childhood Development and Education Center and Southeast Early Head Start center. Cynthia Cavanaugh, Aimee Fulchino, Kim Greeley, Laura Wille, and Shari Tompkins all helped to deliver the items to each location.
  • WIN treated Child Life and Therapeutic Recreation staff at the Institute to an annual holiday lunch to recognize their commitment to WIN.
  • WIN provided Amazon gift cards to 30 graduates of the Institute’s LEAP and high school programs!
