Kennedy Krieger Institute school nurses serve as team members at various schools throughout the community. School nurses administer and monitor the effects of a variety of prescribed medications and perform treatments, such as clean intermittent catheterizations (CIC), nebulizer treatments, wound care, and tube feedings. Additionally, these nurses administer first aid and provide education to students and parents as needed. School nurses are a vital component of the school programs, identifying ways to keep students in a safe environment and serving as a resource to other school staff on health-related issues.
