The Goldsmith Family Foundation is supporting students at the Kennedy Krieger High School Career and Technology Center by providing $5,000 to expand the school’s life and vocational skills curriculum. This grant will help Kennedy Krieger to update and enhance a kitchen classroom that will be utilized to teach students with a variety of disabilities how to prepare and clean after their own meals; learn teamwork; practice cooperation; and develop responsibility. These skills will translate into environments such as other classrooms, the home, and post-secondary employment. More than simply a classroom, this space will boast adaptive equipment and materials and will utilize a highly effective hands-on teaching approach; and, ultimately, will give the students the skills they need to thrive in their home, school, and community environments.
