An important part of our work is improving care and education for underrepresented communities.
To that end, the Maternal and Child Health Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Other Related Disabilities (LEND) program at Kennedy Krieger Institute prepares trainees from a wide variety of professional disciplines to assume leadership roles and to ensure high levels of interdisciplinary clinical competence in underrepresented minority groups.
LEND training is provided to those in disciplines that include audiology, behavioral psychology, genetic counseling, health administration, medicine, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, neuropsychology, social work, special education, and speech- language pathology. A distance learning course is being developed to enable parents of children with developmental disabilities to benefit from LEND training.
