Faculty members, staff members and trainees of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) spent Friday, October 18, out of the office together, reflecting on the past and planning for the future during a departmental retreat. MCDD staff members engaged in team-building exercises and a cultural and linguistic competency activity. The departmental retreat was a chance to step away from day-to-day work activities, leave distractions behind, and focus on our team and the direction of our department within the larger organization.
Wendy Merrill, a local author and speaker, facilitated our retreat at The Residence Inn by Marriott, just one block from our downtown location.
In addition to all MCDD staff members, Beth Benevides, chair of MCDD’s Community Advisory Council (CAC), and Brian Johnson, Kennedy Krieger Institute’s marketing generalist for MCDD, attended the retreat. The afternoon concluded with brief remarks from Dr. Brad Schlaggar, president and CEO of Kennedy Krieger.
